At Plumfield Press, we publish with one aim: to serve and glorify God by serving the young reader. As mamas (and some grandmas), teachers, and librarians, we have prayerfully set ourselves to the work of preserving the best old books. We are working to make them accessible to children today while honoring the originals. Our hope is simple and steady: to get goodness off the shelf and into the minds and hearts of young people.
These literature guides were created in that same spirit of care. They are meant to help children learn to read well and to love what is true, good, and beautiful without being weighed down by bland, mechanical work. Inside each guide, interesting historical notes, lively language lessons, and thoughtful questions help to invite young readers to become more attentive, more curious, and more inspired as they grow in wisdom and virtue.
And because we believe that the learning needs to be meaningful to the children assembled, we want you to feel freedom as you use these guides. Please do not feel pressure to complete every activity or answer every question.
